Default Dealership Tuning

So, I've been driving on a stock tune with my "new" gears for JUST over a year now. Unfortunately, I've had some pressing issues which have prevented me from taking care of that, but now I feel it's time. I just replaced all of my wheel bearings (they all went bad at the same time...) and am getting some Tokico Blues with their lowering springs as my suspension has been dead since day one. Since everything else is getting fixed, I feel a need to get a tune to correct the speedometer too.

My question is, when I go in to have that corrected, are they able to tune for other things (CAI, 93 octane, other misc. stuff)? If I remeber correctly, they quoted me $200 to retune my car. That sounds about right, considering I won't have to worry about having a tuner locked to my car when I sell it. If they CAN do that, is it recommended at all? I've never trusted dealerships, other than to get me parts nobody else carries.

(Posted to wrong section, but w/e. Should be in V6, but tuning should be the same all around.)

I suggest just buying a tuner. You can find them for under $200 used on forums unlocked, and when you sell it, you can just put the original tune back on the car and sell the tuner separately.

There's nothing to tune for a CAI as any additional air flowing through it (of which there will be precious little) will still be metered by the MAF and the PCM will adjust fueling accordingly. Optimising for 93 octane is just bumping the Global Spark Adder and Spark Borderline table.

Beyond that, if you can find dealer that will (and can) provide any sort of "performance" tuning, I would expect a rather tame tune--and would be very surprised if they did any more than set the axle ratio and then give the car plenty of fresh air and sunshine for the rest of the day.

As to "other things" it depends on what you want done--for instance a legitimate dealer will absolutely not turn off the rear O2 sensors, and I doubt they would disable the traction control or touch any of the other "safety" related settings (for instance rev and speed limiters).

just buy a tuner like said. theres no reason to pay someone to load a tune like that on your car when you can do it yourself for cheaper. you can unmarry the tuner from your car, which returns the tune to stock, when you sell the car.
