Hi we did put lube on the cams, but I did not degree them. However we put the lube on it, and then it sat for about a month so I guess it could have wore off in that time period.

ive never heard of this. everything is lubricated within seconds of starting the engine.

That's what I thought too, but their was a special cam lube that we bought anyways and put on it as well I remember it was real thick, and it was red . After we did the cams it was about a month or two until we actually drove the car. My mechanic said the same thing though that it takes a while to lube up.

Not to be a dick or anything but you obviously never installed a set of cams on 2v or 3 v car. It happens especially with a new motor or refresh as you install the cams yourself they tend to dry up and once everything gets lubricated and oil pump pumps the oil up and lubricates it all the noise goes away.

i understand what you mean completely, ive installed cams in a 4v engine. but the post i was referring to #10 the guy said that it could take several hundred miles to lubricate the cams and then the noise would go away. since cam lobes roll across roller followers they would need constant lubrication by the oil pump. taking a few hundred miles to become lubricated is what doesnt make sense to me.

Well I took everything off today and ran tests I have no compression in my 5th cylinder all others read fine though. I am thinking it's time for a new motor.
