anyone know if it would be cheaper to buy a c head motor or buy a mark viii motor and put c heads on it?

The cash for clunkers aren't allowed to sell the engines, they are destroyed. My local Pick N pull spray paints the engine yellow. The biggest thing to go wrong with the Mark VIII is the transmission, so that is what you will find.

Probably cheaper to get the Mark VIII engine and swap the C heads on.

there should be no cash for clunker cars anymore scrap yards had a very short time that they had to crush the cars. And that ended a year ago so that should not even be an issue.
as far as the C head question it really depends on how much you can get the heads and intake for. the problem is finding them at a descent price

At my local pick a part yard they are sprayed orange as well but they still allow you to buy the entire motor and or engine parts. Last month I got a PI intake manifold of a 2000 GT that someone traded in C for C.
