Engine swap for 96 mustang gt
So during this upcoming winter i was thinking of looking for an engine to swap into my car. Now im not trying to buy a brand new engine but something i can probably find at a junk yard

mark VIII swap is pretty cheap and easy. you could try to find a 96-98 cobra engine if you want to spend a little more.
search for jc316 i think is his name he did the mark VIII swap and has a write up about it (his was a 96 or so too i think so the writeup should be identical for you)

The good ole PI swap is something to consider as well. Most people swap the top end out, but the actual PI motor swaps pretty hassle free if you want a whole motor. Just swap the motor and go, the '96 computer system will run it.

The only thing wrong with it is that it leaks and burns alot of oil. But on top of that i want something with a little more base power than 215hp. I went to the junk yard and saw alot of town cars explorers and i think a mark VIII. I just want to get a better engine than i have now that is worth going through the trouble of swapping

Hey, I am the guy that did the Mark VIII swap. You can check my guide in my signature. Now, I have done both a PI swap GT with a ton of bolt ons and the Mark VIII swap stock. The Mark VIII swapped GT was faster.
With the Mark VIII engine:

With the PI Swap, it has gears, so 65MPH is 60MPH:

Be carefully getting a mark 8 motor from a pick a part junkyard as it can be very risky. 1. Make sure it wasnt a cash for clunker trade. Also if the car seems to have no collision damage and its sitting in a junkyard you have to realize there was probably a major drivetrain issue with the car that the owner decided was to expensive to fix and junked the vehicle.

boom more cubes off the bat
and a forged bottom end to boot!
That way your core is already good to go and work your way up to ported heads/blower cams etc.
