Cam question

RE: Cam question
So it looks like any way you go If you do cams and want to do it right it will cost you about $2500 or so by the time you get cams, heads P&P, and a aftermarket intake, plus install and tunenning. If that price seems a little low someone chime in and give me a better idea at what kind of price I am looking at.
Hey code3gt, how do you like the p51 intake? As far as the install on that is there a lot of modding to do or will it pretty much bolt right on without moveing too many things around to make it fit? Thanks

I love the P51 and install was a breeze.

RE: Cam question
So for about 4k in parts and $500-600 for tuneing and such, how much hp (ball park do not need exact #) could I expect out of new heads/cams/intake? Would I be looking at 40-60hp, or would it be more? Just am trying to gauge if I really want to spend that kind of money if I am only goint to net 20-30 hp or so, but if it is more then I will continue looking into it.

RE: Cam question
Looking on Fox Lakes web site it looks like I can get a set of stage 2 heads, cams, and the P51 intake for about $3700. Now my question is can I purchase and install the the P51 intake with the current mods that I have now? If I can install it when I get the heads/cam will I need to upgrade my injectors and fuel pump? If so would #24 injectors be enough or would I need to go bigger than that?

RE: Cam question
OK, thankd for the info, I do not plan on spraying mine after the swap so I think I will just go with the #24 one's. From reading on their web site I found this:
The initial results on the intake are in, and they are more than impressive. This first round of testing was done on a completely stock 2002 Mustang GT. Stock throttle body, stock exhaust, stock everything! Obviously this is a "worst case scenario" test since any intake would perform much better with better breathing capabilities than a stock car can provide. This was done to give true numbers instead of throwing the intake on a car that was a ringer and give you inflated numbers. Once you add some camshafts, P&P'd heads, exhaust and a larger throttle body, gains will only multiply.
On to the results:
The gains on the intake were almost unbelievable. There was no loss in horsepower or torque throughout the entire RPM range. Something every intake designer would like to see but rarely it happens. There was a max gain of 17 RWHP at 5400 RPM and 21 RWTQ at 2400 RPM! Average horsepower climbed from 187 RWHP to 198 RWHP, a 12 RWHP gain. Average torque climbed from 246 RWTQ to 257 RWTQ, an 11 RWTQ gain.
So just by adding the P51 intake I will see some good gains. and then when I add the heads and cam I will be getting to where I want to be. Code3gt, one last question then I will let this die, about how long to make the swap of just the intake would you guess I am looking at. I am pretty good with thing like this and I will have my friend help me that builds Porsche race cars for a liveing. Thanks for all the info on this.

RE: Cam question
It's really pretty easy. One of the pains was just doing the steel braided lines (fitting the ends on the lines). The install instructions will have to be printed off Fox Lake's website, but you can go look at them now and see what's in store. I really can't think of anything that bit us in the a$$, it actually went pretty smooth.
