time to rebuild the car

they way i see it is if i got my 1994 probe 2.6 v6 to run 11.95 at 119 on 9 pounds of boost stock block, stock heads and stock intake with some port work and cams for less then 4500 i would surly think a mustang should be able to run 10s for not much more but maybe im worng i know my probe runs dam good but its 2290 pounds with me in it so its not super light

im not doubting your ability to build a motor, but mmr offers a primo shortblock professionally built in your price range, plus they come with a warranty. Does your build? Personally i wouldnt want to leave it up to a local machine shop to get everything perfect, especially if you wanna have some serious horsepower. mmr just seems more logical to me.

i guess my work comes with my own warranty i brake it i have to fix it lol. know i do understand and really it could be a good way to go i may think more about it i just like putting everything to gather my self. i would not say im half or even a 1/16 as good as those guys im sure of that i just got so use to doing everything my self with my probe other the years it werid to be able to look at website and see all the parts to pick from my probe was pertty much k1 or puater for rods and je for pistons which that reminds me i need to take that block and parts to the shop to be honed and blanced. i guess i do trust my shops close to my state some of them have been blancing some very high end motor with no issues but you have a very good point im betting that mmr is going to be able to do a better job on a mustang motor then a shop that works on all types of motors

Just because it has a v-8 doesn't mean its gonna be easy to run 10s... running 10s in any car isn't easy, the lower you get with times the more difficult it becomes to shave seconds off, You would have a HELL of a time running 10s with 9 lbs of boost... not impossible, but it wouldn't be easy. You'd need blower cams worked heads a steep gear, a BUILT suspension and leave like a bat out of hell. A built auto with a stall would help a lot but thats not as much fun .

i'd have to agree with you, even in perfect running condition, you can find GTs around here anyway for under 4k in DAMN GOOD condition.. the 5.0s seem to be more than the 4.6 NPIs, even with the SN-95 bodystyle. I mean you could just fix the motor and re-sell it and not be out much, you might even profit if you just rebuild the bottom end to stock for a few hundred dollars then sell it for $3000.
