2v to 4v differences
#3
But if I were to want to, is it possible, and what would I need? My motor only has about 50k and I may be able to come up with some 4v parts with higher mileage and still retain my bottom end.

The money you're gonna spend on a 4v swap would be better off on a blower, you will go faster for the same $ or cheaper.
However you would need
4valve heads, these differ with years, there is a sticky in the SVT section that tells you whats compatable with what, i've typed it out many times and don't feel like it ATM.
A 4 valve compatiable intake.. preferably from a cobra or mach 1.(The Mercury Mark VIIIs are 4vs too)
as far as cobras go the 96-98 heads/intakes are only compatiable with each other.
99/01 Cobra and
03/04 Cobra and Mach 1 heads and intakes are all interchangable.
You would also need a timing cover, fuel rails, timing chains, valve covers, cams ofc if they are not included with the heads. I think thats the most of it but if you do decide to do the swap keep a good bit of change on the side for any problems you come across or parts you may have overlooked.

It's a bad idea to try and convert a 2V to a 4V. Not only do you need the entire top half of the motor including heads, intake, timing chains, fuel rails, but you are also bolting the heaviest heads onto the heaviest 4.6L block.

Not necessarily. I did my Mark VIII swap for $500 and I had to buy a new clutch ($150) as well.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that was probably with a mark VII intake, which IIRC makes slightly less power than a cobra intake though not 100%, and also say that i feel like you got a good deal and it would be hard to replicate that swap for $500, you just happened to find the parts for a steal at one point in time.
