My friends dad has a 1995 cobra, 5.0 with 48,000 original miles and a 5 speed. He won't race my 97, but we have a little section that we check trap speeds(not exact 1/4) at and he gets around 95 while I get around 100. He isn't the best driver but he isn't the worst either.

I think the cobra will pull you in the end, but if you launch good you might take him in a QM.
You have a 1997 GT? Non-PI?

A NON-PI GT outrunnig a 5.0 Cobra? So your non-pi GT runs quicker than a H/C/I'd 5.0? A factory Fox 5.0 can pull the doors off a Non-PI car, you must have some kina factory freak if what you say is true. Either that or the guy in the Cobra is afraid to give it WOT.

Where are you from? Ill run you.

Grr, I had a big explantion all typed out and then my comp signs me out and I lose it.

I'll leave it at this.

I think you have somthing mixed up, Non-pi sn-95s aren't neccesarily fast, but they are faster then fox-bodys(your car has more power, but is heavier then a fbody), I have watched a couple videos, one of a 96 and one of a 98 both running 14.7x timeslips. They were both 5 speeds, and as far as I know with good drivers. Neither are stock anymore but besides the point, the fastest I have seen a stock fbody run is a 14.9, and most tick low 15's.

SW Kansas, I'll run you anytime, and if you beat me more power to you. Better get down here in a hurry if you want to run me stock though.

Non-PI faster than a Fox 5.0? Alrighty man, you can ask just about anyone on this board and they will tell you exactly what I'm trying to... Im not even gonna argue with you. Ive owned a 1996 4.6, my wife owns a stock 2002 GT, one friend owns 2002 GT w/ exhaust, and another owns a fully bolted 1996 GT. My wife has smoked the 1996 GT. The guy with the 2002w/exhaust has gotten him too. Ive outran the friends 2002gt w/exhaust as well as my wife in her 2002 GT. Im not tryin to get into a pissin contest but your track must be junk. I saw a 1995 Cobra run a 13.8 here with just a catback. 99Saleen351r can back that up because he saw a 1994 do the same thing at his local track. Your car in stock form would be lucky to break 200rwhp. Thats why they refer to the 1996-1998 mustangs as the "dark days". Even MM&FF has said the non-pi stangs suffered. All it takes is a PI swap to fix that however. Also when you say my car is heavier, its barely 200lbs heavier than a Fox. Its good you got those PI heads.

Welcome to the forums.

I'd race any 5.0cobra with the same mods as me. I dont believe that underrated crap, cuz those 95 gts are superslow. The gt40 heads would help, but not help enough to get from 240 to 285 at the wheels. Thats alot of horsepower to be off.

His quotes are messed up, but thats what I am trying to say.

Don't get defensive man, I'm not trying to say your car is slow or any other cobra is slow either, all I know is what I have witnessed and done. The 2 times were on 2 different tracks. I don't think its possible for a stock 1994-1995 Mustang Cobra . The 5.0 gt's are probably the slowest v8 mustang (1985 and above) made. Hell the 5.0 in the Fbody's and 94-95 gt's were rated at 205. The cobra is 35 or 40 hp better, I wouldn't trust any numbers other then fords or a dyno slip.

You say all the members are going to say that Fox's are faster then 4.6 Non pi sn-95's but everything Ive heard is the other way around, I have never seen anyone say a bone stock 5.0 fox will take a bone stock non pi 4.6, except for you.

Don't think I'm new to the mustang world because of my low post count and recent join date.

IMO, A stock 1996-1998 Mustang GT will beat a stock 1994-1995 mustang GT, stock 5.0 Fox, and from my experience beat a 94-95 Cobra.

This will probably be my last post here as I am obviously not going to change your opinion and you probably won't change mine.

I will second that entire post. except, the 95 cobra vs the 96gt is a drivers race
