3rd and 4th gear no longer work. The tranny went down while I was on the freeway. I was on the fast lane, and I was stuck there for 30 minutes. I called the local sheriff's department so they can escort me off the freeway. 1st and 2nd work so the car goes no more than 40mph. I was wondering if anyone knows a good shop where they work and build 4R70W trannys. For online, I know of performabuilt.com. Any other suggestions? Or any local shops (i live 15 minutes away from Los Angeles)?

I picked up a rebuilt 4r70w from a Goodfellas a company in florida. They were great to work with and after 12k pretty hard miles the trans hasn't giving me any real issues. I'm pretty sure you can find them on e-bay.

Call over to GTR in Rancho Cucamonga. I doubt they themselves do trans overhauls but could probably give you a good recommendation for a local shop.

I see you have a shift kit on your transmission and I bet you don't
have a transmission oil cooler.Heat is the number one killer of the
4R70W automatic transmissions.Definitley make sure you get a
transmission oil cooler like the B&M heavy duty transmission oil cooler.
Automatic transmissions produce more heat than manual transmissions.
Since you are in Califorina I highly recommend purchasing a brand new
transmission or getting your transmission rebuilt from Brothers Performance
in Corona.
