Question The second shock in the rear?

The main shock that runs up and down i know about, but I have always wondered about the one that runs DIAGONAL right next to it (that i think connects to axle) some sort of stabilizer shock? , pretty much i have 2 shocks on each side (4 total) in the back ....
1. Do I need them/can i get rid of?
2. what are they and there function..

I plan on doing PHB, TA and LCA and UCA delete, that is why i ask

They are Axle Dampners. The main function of them is to limit axle wrap. They aren't needed with the TA/PHB setup.

if you buy the lower controls arms now, you can run the factory uppers and ditch the quad shocks
