solid rotors vs vented rotors
im getting powerslot rotors from american muscle ( http://www.americanmuscle.com/94-04-...tors-rear.html ) i went to autozone to get new brake pads and they told me that it wont make a difference in the front pads but for the rear their is a difference in the pads and they dont carry them is this true, i also saw online that it doesent make a difference with the pads but on the calipers is that true instead?

Nothing wrong with the Powerslot rotors other than they will dust your wheels
more than the regular solid rotors. Also there are alot of different vendors that
sell the Powerslot rotors.Don't get any of the Autozone brake pads they are
the worst and will leave dust all over your wheels in one day of driving. The
Autozone brake pads also make noise you will hate them. The best brake pads I
had so far are the Ford Motorcraft brake pads they are definitley worth the money
in my opinion.

Pep Boys ProStop ceramic pads are good, no/low dusting and great stopping power.
Stay away from any "semi-metallic" pads where a magnet will stick to the pad material--they have iron powder in the pad and are the ones that create the "brown" front wheels on so many cars...

If your NOT gonna auto cross, I would just get some Ebay slotted and drilled "zinc coated" rotors. There is a company called "Brake Labs" I have personel experience with, beating the crap out of these on the street and they didnt rust or go bad for 2 years, after that they rusted a bit but still looked good.
A set of four rotors for about 120 or so....
Im about to order some for my cobra set up....my brembos rusted and look like ****.

Pretty sure the rear rotors on all GT's are solid, it was Cobra's that had vented rear rotors. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong on this; I just went through the same thing with Auto Zone recently and I'm also quite sure I've never seen aftermarket rear rotors for our cars in a vented design, nor aftermarket rear pads with a "solid" or "vented" application intention.

I think drilled rotors give a very good look to any car they are on. Most drivers will never push their cars to the extremes that would cause these rotors to crack. I have some heavy duty driving on these rotors, drag racing stops.....from 140 to 60 or 40 several times in a row. Cliff you should slow your role, ricers huh? So i guess C230 Mercedes and Lotus Elise, porsche and many other very classy cars are all ricer?
There is nothing wrong with enhancing the image of one's car......Drilled rotors are very good at enhancing image. Now as for them cooling better because they are drilled, thats seems to not be the case, ive never stated that either way.
Those power slot rotors are way to much to justify in my book......
Z28KLR - the facory GT rear rotors were indeed solid, when my Brake Labs rotors came in they were drilled with a crapload of holes (none of which developed so much as a hairline crack in 2 years) and looked plain awsome......for about 120 or 130.00 for all four shipped, cant beat that!

"Well, I guess if impressing people who don't know squat is more important than performance"
You guessed wrong, this is not my goal, nor do i believe that its the goal of the person who started this thread. My point if it isnt clear enough, if you like drilled rotors the "brake labs" brand has worked great for daily driving and hard street use. I would not trust them on an auto cross track. They are very cheap and look good, drilling is an option or you could just have some nice blanks....they might slot them too!
save moneys! haha, What are you gonna be doing on these rotors anyways locogenious?
