Default For those running Hawk HPS brakepads...

Do your brakes squeal? I installed a new set of rotors all around with Hawk HPS pads and braised lines up front and ever since a month or so of running them, they have started to squeal like a pig mostly after driving around for a bit and getting them hot.

I did some browsing on the net and it appears that many people with the HPS pads have the same kinda problem. I've checked everything else and I can't really find another source for the problem.

It basically sounds like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUljL...eature=related

But not quite anywhere near as bad. Still loud as heck though, especially when warmed up.

It's irritating and i'm thinking about switching pads. Anyone have any recommendations? I want something quiet with good stopping power. I don't need anything too crazy since this is a DD street/strip car and I don't do any "performance" braking on the street.

Maybe I should simply switch to OEM?

Thanks,
Brandon

I had the Hawk HPS brake pads and they made alot of noise like
sqeeking and squaling. They also covered my wheels in brake dust
in no time I hated these brake pads!
The best brake pads I ever had are the Ford Motorcraft brake pads.
They don't make any noise and they don't dust much at all.
I'd definitley get the Ford Motorcraft brake pads you will like them.
So far out of all the brake pads I have ever had the Hawk HPS and
Autozone Duralast Gold brake pads are the worst brake pads I have
ever had.

Same here when I was running the HPS pads. I then switched to the Hawk ceramic pads I like them much better, quiet and LOW DUST. Dust is my biggest pev

^ me to!

I have run them up front, and out back for a few months, with zero issues of noise. Did you pepes put some grease on the back-side of the pads? That is the only thing I can think of that you may have missed.

As for brake dust..... I never payed attention to more or less after pads change. Maybe you pepes are braking to hard and just getting more dust as a result....?

A few months back I replaced front and rear on our 2006 with HPS pads, and they started squealing really bad in a week or so. Next time, it's use the OE Motorcraft pads, as they never made noise!

only time i have ever had problems with my hawk pads squeaking is when i installed them wrong. was in a rush and didn't pop the front pads in correctly and with in a couple days the pads wiggled their way out of position and squealed like a bitch. other then that they are the best pad i have ever used

Bladerunner I'm sorry but u have something negative to say abouit everything. American muscle is one of the best mustang mail order sites around and are top ranked in customer service. You prob have some issue with them cause you instaled ur spec clutch wrong and it failed. 2 I have the duralast premium ceramic pads from autozone on my car and they work great and leave little to none brake dust and I have white wheels. OP get a can of spray CRC brake queit and spray it on the back of the pads, clips, and contact areas and I think u will be fine.
