Default need to pass smog in cali

Hey guys. I have to find a way to smog my 97. The hold ups are my bbk off road h pipe dumped flowmasters and a bbk cai that doesn't have a carb legal sticker.
I cant even pass the tailpipe test as it sits. If I can get it to pass the actual emissions test I think I can get it done. I'm thinking of welding some cats on my orh but don't know what to go with. Should I try 2 universals from kragen or the pypes mini cats or something else?
I've had it ran once so far and they hc's were way off.
Before I try to smog it again I'll change the plugs and oil. If anyone has any ideas throw them out. or if you know of somewhere in northern cali that can help me out send me a pm.
thanks guys

go to a junkyard and grab some stock crap and throw it on for emissions purposes. its not hard, you can swap your catback and intake in a couple hours with some jackstands and a basic socket set.

i wouldnt trust buying and welding in some cats. if you get a doucher of a tech who knows mustangs you still fail at that point. the only way i would trust yalls ****-fornia testing is if i returned my car to stock. i wouldnt spend 200+ dollars welding cats into a pipe that isnt even legal.

Forget about welding cats onto your ORH. Even IF it passes the sniffer, there is a good chance a visual will be performed and you will likely fail.

Just find yourself a stock mid pipe and a stock intake from a friend or on craigslist and swap it out for the test

every time I've been to the junkyards in my area there haven't been any mustangs other than foxes that were already stripped.
Its not that easy on mine. The genius who owned the car before me had the mufflers welded to the mid pipe. Which I have to fix anyway when I get my side exhaust. I know mustangs well enough and have done countless hour of work on them. This is my 3rd one.

I don't need to worry about visual. Just the tailpipe test. And I haven't found any stock mid pipes on craigslist yet. Does anyone know what cats would pass? I checked the universals last night and they were $200 a piece. I don't know about you guys but $1200 seems straight outrageous

Just do it right. Rip all the rigged crap off and put in the right parts to make it legal.

Get a stock H pipe and a good cat back.

If you live in So.Cal you can just tell the guy to pass your smog and you'll pay him extra.

If I could find a stock h pipe I would but I'm not having any luck.
Now what my question really is considering I cant find a stock h pipe is what cats would be smoggable? I just need to pass the pipe test for now. My area isn't really enforced anyway but even if I get it passed without a stock h pipe I will get one eventually just so I won't be hastled in the city. But for now I need to get this smogged Its already over the date of when I was supposed to have it done.

Gorgen can you check shipping to 95228?

You are most likely gonna have to just bite the bullet, and get rid of the rigged set-up. Having aftermarket cats pass here in Ca. is a crap shoot at best. I have a friend that passed the sniffer with a Bassani Catted X, but failed visual. He barely passed the sniffer, and the cats were pretty new (less than 10k miles) I just swapped the mid-pipe for the 2nd test and passed with flying colors, no issue.

Check Cafords.com and see if someone there can help you find a stock midpipe to use.

Does anyone know if the pypes mini cats have passed?
I'm thinking if I do an oil change and change the plugs then drive it straight to the shop with the mini cats I might have a chance.
I've also heard of people running rubbing alcohol. Has anyone heard of this?
