You don't need a PI swap for a fun road course car. That year and motor will be just fine as long as it's not a total beater. Cold air intake and exhaust and you'll be sitting pretty for power.
Some 3.73 gears, big brakes, tubular suspension, dampers etc and a set of 17x9s will work wonders for it.

first off, lilroush nice picture in your sig, car looks great. I had K&N filter on a CAI with 75mm T/B and plenum and saw a far amount of improvement. I never did the exhaust so i can't say how much that would have change things. 3:73 would be the right gear for that set up.

i have a 98 gt full pi swap, sniper tuned, msd coils and wires, k&n drop in, h-pipe, finally made it to the track, didnt get my time for the road coarse but the quarter mile time was 14.4

well i have 23,000 miles since i did the swap without a problem and i drive it pretty hard.
