Speedo Not Working!

Speedo Not Working!
Got a 2002 GT with a 3:73 gear. There is some type of box on the tranny that corrects the speed. Not that that may have anything to do with this, but the speedo stopped working and the odometer does not change and after a few minutes just goes to dashes.
If you guys could tell me the correct name for the thing that corrects your speed so I can research it, that would be sweet. Hope one of you guys know what is going on.

It is most likely a Dallas Speed-Cal, and is either defective or a wiring problem has developed. The dashes indicate the PCM is not receiving an input signal from the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor.
The Speed-Cal is an alternative to altering the tune to let the PCM know the rear-end gears have been changed. It works by digitally modifying the OSS signal to trick the PCM...
