Did you try pulling the clutch pedal towards you for adjusting it. Use your toe and pull towards you to make up the slack in the pedal. Try that before you rip it apart

I have a spec stage 3 and i love it. Like someone said theres been people who hate them and people who love them though. I had a king cobra clutch before this. I think there rated up to 300ftlbs or something like that. There fairly cheap and it worked great for me. I only put the spec in cause i plan on making a lot more power.

yea, spec stage 3 is what i had in mind originally. i just found fidanza's 4.3 for 290 @ summit. dunno if anyone has ever used their clutches, but i havent found any bad reviews except for their flywheel, and its mostly cause its aluminum and doesnt hold inertia. i cant find any ratings on centerforces clutches. i want something equivalent to a spec stage 3 or 3+.

I did try to pull clutch towards me and i put some muscle into it but no clicking or slack released. I am officially convinced it is burnt out. I like all the advice but i think i'm going to go with they Ford Racing M-7560-A302N - Clutch Kit. seems to be fairly cheap through summit ($219.00) and I found a reputable mechanic that will install it for $200 here in Florida.

Centerforce DFX clutch and that he would get one again.
My bad experience with the Spec Stage 2 clutch and all the horror stories
I read on the mustang forums about the Spec clutches I would never purchase one.

Bladerunner could of been a victim of a bad install considering he took it to a "shop"

Yet most importantly in his profile he states he's a mechanic. People who don't know their heads from their ***'s can replace a clutch on a mustang with the proper tools.

Just more and more and more proof that hes full of it and doesn't own either of what he claims.

a clutch install for 200$?? seems really low.

but i guess its really not that hard, its just time consuming depending on what route you go to take it out. for me, i had to take the whole motor and trans out together... when i had aamco rebuild my trans under warranty (woo! free parts! and labor!) for the 1-2 and 3-4 syncros, they must have torqued those damn top trans/engine bolts to some beastly numbers. it took me a torch and my trusty harbor freight heavy duty electric impact a good amount of time and hassle... couldnt imagine doin it with them in the car (i tried)...

Personally I've had good luck with my Spec flywheel, I would definitely get one of them or a flywheel of the same design. It's really nice being able to unbolt the friction surface and bolt a new one on every time you do a clutch rather than either buying a new flywheel or resurfacing the one you have.
