Default Catalytic Converter...

I've heard that if you break up the screen in a catalytic converter, your mustang will have more power/torque and it will sound a lot better. I heard that you can shove a broom stick through it and break it up, then run the car and get all the stuff out of it, then put the exhaust back on. Would anyone not recommend this for a number of reasons? Thanks!

that is normally called guttin the cats but idk if its worth it.. i would just buy a new X pipe or H pipe without the cats. its the same effect but will give more power probably cause the stangs have 4 cats and you could possibly clog the 2nd set by guttin the first set and you will loose hp there.

It is illegal, but if you are gonna gut them, then you wont be legal either. May as well take the chance on a O/R pipe. I did it on my '02 GT and got pulled over twice for loud noise violations and never once did the cop look under my car. Its a pretty rare thing for them to look under the car.

Ok, so what kind of O/R pipe would you recommend for a 01 Cobra?

The Bassani X pipe is the best in my opinion. Thats what I had on my GT and I loved every secon of it.

Yeah u can get an O/R pipe it is illegal but ive had mine for quite some time now and i just drive respectfully and the cops wont bother you. You wont be pasing emissions tho. Your Check engine light will come on but you probally have a tuner or sumtin for that. I just found out that they dont do the Sniffer test in NY anymore on 96+ car's. [sm=happy046.gif]. Im goin in a few weeks for inspecation. I had to put MIL eliminators on my car for the light to come off.
