Default gear swap, what improvement should i expect?

2003 GT all stock, asside from bassani xpipe and bassani cat back. i recently took it to the track to get baseline numbers before i start really building the car. I was untimatly dissapointed in MY ET. so i am considdering a gear swap and would like to knwo the type of number changes i should expect with the new gears. are we talking a 10th of a second or half a second. thanks alot guys.

im considdering 3.73 or 4.10 so any info you guys have would be appreaciated. also what rpm would i expect to run at highway speeds with each? highwqay speeds i mean 70-75.

I bought my first stang four weeks ago. The guy I bought it from did some work to it including putting the 4.10's. Gotta say, ***** fast. I cant speak to track times as I have never been top a track myself, but you will be impressed with the 4.10's. They aren't stupid torquey, still driveable as a grocery getter etc,.... If you are going for competion you may even go more aggresive than that. I am using it as a daily driver and its not overboard.

Someone here said "Don't fear the gears"- they were right.

Oh and- I run 3k rpm at 75 mph. Not purring, not screaming, but humming.

Well I have a 2004 GT and the only thing I have done so far is put in a K&N fillter, performance chip, and put in 3.73 gears. As far as the gears are conserned you notice a difference when you get in to the high RPMs. But it will turn your first gear into a "granny gear". I was disapointed with this fact. I thought that it would make a difference through out the whole RPM spectrum but it doesn't. But having said that though, I would still do it because once you get past 3 grand it really starts paying off. And with just the stock gears it's sooo slow. Anyway you wanted to know what to expect well here it is.

when you are racing, you dont spend much time at all below 3K

as for your time improvements, with what you have (which is similar to mine) you should be able to get into the 13.6-13.8 range.

figure i ran a 14.5 wth a 2.2 60' every. 1 = .2 off your et so a 1.8 is gonna take off .8 of a second which puts me right in the middle of that

but 4.10's are about as high as you want to go with a daily driver, a couple pepole have 4.30's but i cant imagine they do too well on the highway seeing as how i dont do that good with 4.10's

good luck, any more q's just ask

When/if you get 4.10's, you'll really feel a harder pull in 3rd and 4th. With my stock 3.27's, those gears like took forever to get out of. Now, 3rd and 4th really feel like they count. 1st is just a launch gear to get the thing rolling.
