Default just bought an 03 SOHC GT motor have a concern

im not sure where i read it or when but i was under the impression that mid 01-04 GTs came with a metal intake manifold and the motor i just received has a plastic one. anyone know anything about this?

01 Bullit, yes. Everything else, no, maybe your thinking of the updated plastic manifold, it has an aluminum cross over in the front.

FYI, mine didn't break where the "improvements" were made.

the 01's to 04's came with a plastic manifold, they just added an aluminum coolant crossover to prevent melting and cracking in the manifold that was an issue with previous models.

plastic crossover? previous owner's manifold probably cracked and he found one off a 99-01.5 for cheap to replace it with. the one that was on my car when i bought it was cracked underneath the aluminum crossover and i had to replace it, they arent foolproof.

as stated, an 03 has a plastic intake, but the front part where the coolant crosses over is alum. so no need to be worried as long as the piece in the front is alum.
