Default Intake Manifold for a 2000 GT

On My 98 Mustang Gt I blew the intake manifold at the plastic coolent crossover. The hole was huge and I had to be towed home. I bought a Dorman which has that area aluminum, and it worked fine. Car was all stock. I have a 2000 Mustang GT and I see it has the same type set-up. Before that decides to explode on me, I thought I would change it to the one that has the aluminum crossover. I see Ford racing and Dorman both have one at around $200 bucks. I keep stuff 100% stock so as close to OEM is what I would like. Any insight would be appreciated before I buy one....Thanks....Jeff

Do you know if that comes with the gaskets and the altenator bracket? I see Dorman mentions that, but the FRPP one doesn't. I like the idea of the FRPP one better...thanks!

I know when you buy one straight from ford part store they come with the gaskets in the box. Not too sure with the alt bracket.

i would try to stay away from dorman. I got one on mine now and its not leaking or anything but the holes for the spark plugs aren't perfectly lined up so you actually have to have a certain brand socket that would fit in there to get the plug out if needed.

I have read about the Dorman being tight on plug number 3 and 4. Guys say they Dremel or file just a tiny bit and the socket goes in. I would change plugs at the same time, so unless something happened, considering it only gets driven 3000 miles a year, I probably would never do them again. And if so, there has to be a way to file or trim a little to get in there. I like the idea of the Ford one better, but it is hard to figure out what all I get. Dorman has the gaskets, O-rings, Altenator bracket and thermostat included. On the last one I did with Dorman, it had everything I needed. I guess I am also not crazy about the idea that the COPS are secured to the Dorman with sheetmetal screws rather than a brass insert with a true bolt. I think what I will do is call one of these places that sell the FRPP one and ask them what all do I need besides the intake to get it all done. They must get that question quite often. Not to sidetrack my own thread, but this is the first 4.6 that calls for 5 quarts of oil with filter. My 97, 98 and my 98 F-150 are...or were...6 quarts. If you knock around the Web, you here everything from the recommended 5 quarts to up to 7 quarts....LOL. The stick says full at 5, so that's what she gets. Thanks for all the comments so far, and anything else someone else may want to contribute. Being a 57 year old gearhead, I am kinda' out of the loop on the newer stuff. I was driving a 65 Chevelle SS when we put the first man on the moon.....just to date things a little....

Call the dealership parts counter and ask them to open the box and tell you what's in it?
