Default Tranny Swap Fittment Questions

Hello everybody thanks for looking into this thread! Okay the 3rd gear synchro is going out in my mustang but is still drivable for the moment. I understand that a new tranny and a syncrho kit is going to be about the same parts and labor on either side. I was thinking this could be an excuse for a 6 speed if the price is right on it. ANY way I have heard of our Gts accepting the Tremec T-56, does it bolt right up to what I have now? (01 Mustang Gt) Will I need a new cross member, drive shaft, shift linkage, or etc? Also this is a long shot hahah but will a Tremec TR-6060 fit? I am going to be grabbing either 3.90s or 4.10s as well so I am thinking the 6speed instead of a synchro kit. I have searched the forums a bit and still haven't been able to find a decisive answer on whether or not it will work without much trouble.

Thanks for all the help! and hopefully this doesn't post twice hahaa power is shotty right now ha

Thumbs up

Keisler Engineering can provide you a TR6060 Shelby GT500 trans with bellhousing for $2295. Add $295 for hydraulic release bearing kit with lineset. Add $169 for a driveshaft coupler kit or $369 for a complete driveshaft. Add $129 for our Pro-Touring copper-cermetallic / copper organic dual friction disc, or $299 for an entire clutch kit.

For the shifter (it is remote mounted), you can go with the factory stuff or aftermarket for 2005-up but you may need to modify it for length (we can help with that).

Alternatively, you can go our with our T45R-400, 500, 600. These are completely remanufactured with upgraded components such as 9310 chrome-nickel-moly gears that are heat treated, CNC ground, then shot peened for severe duty. The T45R-600 has the excellent 2.80 1st gear to minimize the RPM drop in 1-2 to about 1600rpm at 6500rpm shift points.

All T45R models include the bellhousing, and pivot ball stud. All models include new carbon fiber double cone synchros, bearings, seals, pads, springs, etc. And all models include our newest and best pro shifter that has solid stops, tunable internal spring bias, and many more features.

Pricing for the T45R series is:
T45R-400, $1399, standard (3.37 ratio), 400 torque, 1-1/16 x 10 spline input (stock)
T45R-500, $1699, standard (3.37 ratio), 500 torque, 1-1/8 x 26 spline input (requires disc change)
T45R-600, $2099 close ratio, 600 torque, 1-1/8 x 26 spline input (requires disc change)

Check out the link at my sig for more info.
