Default Water Temp Gauge?

Okay, last gauge came in today. I understand how to hook it up, but where do I put the sensor in? It's gone one big bolt that has a hole in it, and the thermometer and sender screw into that. Where do I put it, do I have to tap my own hole? If so, where's the best spot to do it?

This is what I did. I purchased a new t-stat houseing (only about 10 bucks) and I also installed a 180 deg. thermostat at the same time during the install. I had a friend weld a bung to the top of the new t-stat houseing and then drill and tap it to fit the sensor. (did not use the bigger threaded part just threaded the sensor into the bung on top of the houseing) Then all I had to do was install the new houseing and 180 deg. thermostat and add new coolent. That was the easiest way that I could figure out how to do it. Some have tolde me that they just used a "T" fitting and used the stock location for both of the gauges. I did not do this because of the stock gauge being connected to the computer and makeing adjustmemts based on the temp that sensor was reading. Hope this helps ya

Yeah that is the houseing, The only thing that you will have to worry about is clearence between the bottom of the sensor and the top of the t-stat. My buddy welded it for me and charged me $25 to weld the bung and tap/ install the gauge in it for me. I would bet that if you took it to a welding shop they would charge you about the same to do it also. The other problem that my friend pointed out was that the material is really thin and you will not have that much of the gauge threads incontact with the houseing. You coule try it that way and see how sturdy the sensor is once it is in place. hope this helps

I think i'll leave this one to the professionals. ive already had some coolant troubles before.. and i dont want them again.

i dont think they would charge me too much to install it, i would do all the wiring under the hood and such, they woudl just have to hook it up and install the sensor.

If you are going to go that route I would have them install the sensor first and then you run all the wires from the sensor to your gauge. That way you know that the wires will reach where ever they put the gauge. Good luck
