Just curious..been looking around for used engines that can hang in my garage throughout the year while it gets rebuilt. However, I do not want to cut the hood, a new hood maybe. I seen a 302 the other day with a raised hood that wasnt too high.

I'm not 100 percent sure but i belive that a 302 is about as big as you can (if your sticking with a ford engine, which i would hope) without atleast getting a cowled hood to allow for more room, if you were to do that the possibilitys go through the roof

Im not big into cowled hoods. I can go a little bit up, but not much. A 302 may be what I am looking for anyways, I want to get into the 400+ HP range after mods, minus a SC.

I thought the 4.6 was like a 289 or something small.

Its a 281 C.I. engine so its smaller in displacement but its physical size is much bigger then a 302. Hell I think its has the gm ls motors covered in physical size also.

The size isnt really the problem its the height of the motors. A 302 will fit fine obviously cause the 94-95s had them with the same sb95 body style. Not sure how much bigger you could go but theres always boring and stroking the motor.

The 95 cobra r had a 351w! That would be a nice setup or if you really want a pushrod 5.0 just sell your car and buy a 94 or 95 gt!
