i have the goodyear eagle gt's up front and nitto nt05 in the rear. i like them both

Look into Toyo Proxis T1R. No hydroplaning in heavy rain at fwy speeds (lol, I live in San Diego). Don't know about snow performance. Great in dry weather, confident in rain. Plus, these are about $100+ cheaper each, than Michelin or Pirrelli.

I think I like these BFG KDW IIs better.

It's tough to compare 245/45 17 tires to 255/40 and 285/40 18 tires.

He can't go wrong with either.
