Default Intake manifold options

97 GT 4.6L 2V engine

I am wondering if there are other types of intakes I can use to replace the plastic (stock) one. It cracked around the t-stat water transfer. I know I can use 99+ intakes IF I have PI heads. Which I don't.

Everything is stock; are there other intakes that aren't plastic that I can use on the 97 GT without making modifications?

I say just swap to PI heads ($200-$400) a pair while you're in there. If you can afford it get the TFS Twisted Wedge Heads. Then go with the TFS Track Heat Intake.

You can use a PI intake with non PI heads...you just have to use a dab of silicone around the water ports where the intake port and head port are a little different...it will give you a decent bump in power too...

The sad fact is that for most of us stock is about the only option that makes sense, PI or NPI. The fact is most aftermarket intakes aren't really geared towards bolton NA cars. They work great on power adder cars or NA cars that are highly modified and built to handle 7000rpm+, but for guys just getting going and doing boltons, you really don't wanna go that way.

As said, on a stock mustang like yours, I would only ever do a Stock PI manifold with the aluminum crossover. There are plenty other manifolds out there, but you will honestly probably lose tq/hp than the stock PI. The stock PI can be had for under $100 and you will most likely gain 15rwhp from it. Just my .02

Do a pi swap unless your really starvin for cash. The heads are a lot of the problem on the npi cars. AS stated before they can be had for pretty cheap. Even if you have to save up just a little more i think its well worth it. Just keep an eye on your coolant level.
