tranny fluid?

i read a tutorial on another mustang forum site and the person writing it showed themselves replacing the tranny fluid when installing there mgw short throw shifter, i was planning on doing the same if there will be any advantage to doing so. but is there really any? i have a 2004 gt w/ 13,000 miles on it. thanks in advance

Any advantage to the tranny fluid change or the short shifter install? For Tranny fluid I guess you could change it with something synthetic, less wear on everything internal. As for the short shifter, you won't miss the 2nd-3rd shift as easily as you may now with the stocker.

Unless you have racked up 20,000 miles or 12 months of driving then there isno need to really change the fluid. But there is no harm in doing it when you swap the shifter.
