I always thought these days with synthetic oil you could just leave the oil in longer if you don't put the 4k - 5k miles on the motor.

Maybe it's just me thinking that....

I have no clue I just drain the **** and put more oil in haha. Theres still a lot of oil in the heads even though the pan bolt is off so I think its a little far-fetched to think you have an accurate measurement based on oil draining of how much is being burned.

goose egg. its funny that you bring up burnt oil, our company truck is a 97 F150 i hopped in the other day and the oil light starts flashing and pressure gauge starts goin crazy, i pull over and check the oil it was 5.5 quarts low!!! i couldnt believe this thing was running. i took it to our shop and put 4 quarts in it and the dipstick was dry as a bone. ran to the store and got some more oil and ended up needing almost 2 more qts lol

You can, however I would not let it go past 6 months--the nasties that build up in the oil (especially in vehicles that never see 1 to 2 hours at speed at least once a month) will continue to eat away at your engine while it's just sitting there...

I change mine at regular intervals and burn no oil. My rear main seal is starting to develope a very slow leak though.

...00..Gt..Not a drop...I am over 100,000 miles .....5-30 dino oil and a Motocraft filter. Summer driver only. My 98 F-150 is my work truck.....210,000 miles with the same 4.6. Maybe will use a third of a quart in 3000 miles. I change it at 2500 miles in the winter cause I idle it more. Stuff looks like driveway sealer draining out of the pan.

I don't burn any at all with Mobil 1 full synthetic, with 140k and I change every 4.5k [and it doesn't come out dark]

I change every 3k miles or less (depends on how bored I am haha) and can happily say I do not burn any oil

Nope, no joke. I only drive it for 6 months out of the year and really don't put many miles on it. I use synthetic and it's always very clean.
