Im browsing the site where I always get my tires. I can get a Nitto NT555RII "extreme R" for 155.24 each. Or I can get Nitto NT555R "extreme drag" for 134.99 each. Or they have Nitto NT555 "extreme ZR" for 119.69 each... All three of these tires are nitto 555's but some how different. Which one?? Im waitin to purchase them on the conclusion of this thread with ur guys help.

They are street legal but you'll not get tons of miles outta them
Guys running them seem to like them as much as the MT DR's

The NT05Rs are nittos answer for the MT ET streets. I have heard that the regular NT05s will hook as well as the old 555Rs did. I have 555s on my lightning and they werent worth a crap, but it also had 510ftlbs of torque. If your looking for a good compromise between life and traction, the 555Rs are tough to beat.

The NT05's are great tires. Actually pretty good in the rain as well, but horrid in any cold temps/snow/ice.

I agree with the guys who said that they're good on the street, but not so good at the track. Don't get me wrong, they're far better than any street tire i've ever had for straight line traction, but they just don't heat up and grip like most hardcore drag radials. For me (my wants, needs, etc...) they're perfect for what i do.

I see alot of comments about 555 and nt05's, you guys do know that R's a re a different compound and tread pattern?

The nt05r's actually have a treadwear of 100, the 555r's had a treadwear of 0. So by the ratings, the nt05r's should last longer than the 555r's.

I would not waste my time with the 555r's.. Like I said, I had them on my car and they really did not hook well at all (315/35/17) unless you drove for awhile to get them hot.

I have the regular 555's now, and I actually like them just as much as the 555r's, plus they'll last longer, and they are not as noisey as the 555r's going down the road.

If you're set on a radial, pick up either the nt05r's or mt et street 2's

I got roughly 13k out of my 555r's

Killjoy, i think you have the ratings backwards. 555R's have a treadwear rating of 100, and the NT05R's have the 0 rating. Unless i've been misinformed or read it wrong on Nitto's site.

My 555R's had plenty of tread left when I took them off for MT's. The MT's wore a hell of a lot faster, but definitely gripped way better. As far as both rain and life, you're going to give up some treadwear and some inclement weather driveability with any decent drag radial. It's just the way it is.
