Unhappy FUEL RESERVE??

Hi guys new here.

I have a 2003 Mustang GT W/ 16,000 miles on it.

When my gas was low and the low gas light came on, I used to drive it a couple more miles and then it would 'refill' itself up to about another 1/8th tank of gas.

Now when the low light comes on, that doesn't happen anymore.

Any idea as to why?

It's got me worried sick.

Thanks a bunch guys, im not very tech/car savvy!

dont really understand your question but when the light comes on you have 2gallons left in the tank.

There's nothing wrong, the gauges aren't that accurate. But FWIW you shouldn't be waiting for the gas light to come on to fill up; you can burn up the fuel pump running it low on gas.

^+1, the fuel level system is very highly damped to prevent the indicator from waving all over as you go over bumps/uphill/downhill/etc. The sometimes inconsistent behaviour of the gauge and the low-level warning is normal, you just never noticed it before.

Find something else to worry about...
