Default What is the most bang for my bolt on buck?

I just got a 96 gt. I'm not really satisfied with its power. Its a PI swap car with cold air/h-pipe/flowmasters/under drive pulleys. So whats next? I wanna throw maybe 400 bucks at the motor, the rest of my cash is going not the suspension. I was thinking msd wires & fresh plugs for sure and maybe an ebay 70 or 75mm throttle body and injectors. That or shorty headers. I'm sure you guys know what the most bang for your buck. also what is there in the line of hand held tuners for a 96? I know 400 doesn't buy you much but if i can feel a difference i'll be satisfied.

$400 will get you gears. I dont think you will have enough left over for the install price though. All depends on how much they charge in your area.

I think i could change the gears myself, i did it once on an f-body. I kind of like the stock gearing though, from what I understand, gearing it will kill my mileage.

Except gears aren't bolt ons.

Get a new T/B

And while your at it

New upper intake manifold(plenum) that's the crappiest(weakest flow) part of the whole intake set up.

Shorty headers don't do a thing for our cars, it's long tubes or nothing.

Best bang for the buck is gears but like stated above it's not a bolt on. As far as bolt on goes I would say get a hand held tuner. IMO

I think FRPP 3.73's are the best gears for street and strip.
There are to many missing variables to say a certain gear is the best for street in strip, that totally depends on the application, rear tire size, hp/tq, torque curve, etc etc. OP in your situation I'd drop in 4.30s and never look back.
