Agree with Uber
Spec Stage 2 + is my pick..This clutch can take a beating
I have one in my GT and made serveral passes at the track on it..No Problems.

centerforces dual frictions clutches are really good too.

My Spec Stage 2 clutch I had before failed in 5K miles of normal driving.
I even did the proper break in too.Spec clutches are hit or miss from what I have seen!
Bet you didn't know theres a Spec Stage 2 and a Spec Stage 2 + .
What car did you have the Spec Stage 2 in ?
If your Spec stage 2 died after 5k you don't know how to drive a stick.

Mines been a gem and grabs like crazy and I have serveral track runs on it plus DD.

before you cut down Spec clutchs, you should learn what youre talking about first.

i need a clutch that can handle 650rwhp/650rwtq... i would prefer it if it was actually rated at that. it seems like the spec stg3+ would be perfect but its like 120$ more than the stage3...

edit: o wait, i just saw the stage 2+ has 669 tq rating... maybe i'll go that route...

so... spec stage 2+, or spec stage 3... how are spec's ToB's? i mean i've heard everyone say toss aftermarket ToB's and just get the FRPP HD... but any nickel and dime i can save is a nickel and dime that can go where i might need it more...

Id say its worth it for the extra cash..reason is its made out of better materials to withstand a better beating.I hear you on the ratings but the king cobra is rated pretty low and I know that clutch can take a hammering.

So I wonder sometimes about the ratings of some clutchs.
RAMS seem to have a high rating but don't know much about them for these cars.Maybe someone can chime in with one and tell you about them because the rating are higher than some real top dogs.

Keep us updated what you decide on

I'm in on this too...I need to find out a good clutch/flywheel to get for my swap. I was looking at the Spec st. 2 and 2+ from american muscle, but I wanted to know about driveablity too since there werent any reviews. Flywheels not a big deal, but is it worth it for aluminum? Sorry to thread jack kinda, but it's relevant.

Aluminum flywheels I hear arent worth it. They heat up quicker causing slippage. Go Steel

You heard wrong. If you are replacing the flywheel on these cars, aluminum is worth a few horsepower and will allow the car to rev more freely and reach rpm faster.

tbird..Yes you're correct as for that part
Think more on the lines of drag racing.I hear they're not good for that if OP is looking to drag race at all.Just stating research I read \ heard as a rookie at that time.

Sorry if I mislead you on that factor. My fault didnt state that factor

I was thinking on going aluminum FW when I did my clutch in GT but I drag race alot with it.I can see them over heating then causing slippage over steel.

keep in mind, i'm running a turbo, i considered middle-of-the-road chromoly flywheel, which is only a couple pounds heavier than alum, but i did some research and for turbo + manual trans you want that extra weight to help load + spool the turbo. i ended up getting a "new" takeoff OEM 8-bolt steel flywheel, resurfaced, for under 60$ shipped to my door.

i'm not worried about making horsepower, i'm worried about puttin it to the ground. spec stage 2+ will get me there, and probably keep it more streetable, but its a tad bit more expensive than a stage 3. stage 3+ is probably overkill, but from the looks of it, it seems more streetable than the 6-puck stage 3...

so i'm thinkin stage 2+... only problem is then i gotta add in a ToB (another 60$)... which puts me over 400$... i'm kinda tempted to try the spec ToB...

edit: i've also heard alot of people complain about the quality of all aluminum flywheels and certain aftermarket clutches. they usually end up ditching the alum flywheel after a time, come to find out that the steel flywheel fixes most of their chattering issues.

my car will be mostly street, but will more than likely have a setup for taking corners (i'm in the process of designing a custom watts linkage and torque arm) but may see some drag time...

edit2: f'it, im buyin the stage 2+...
