Default Need some quick help, car won't start

My buddy has an SN95 GT with the 4.6. I think it's a 97. He's been driving it around all day and when he got home and parked it he was ready to leave again, and the car wouldn't start 20 minutes later. I can hear the fuel pump, it turns over and starts for about 3 seconds then it dies. If we try and give it a little gas, it will rev up but still die a few seconds later. The theft light is flashing while we do everything and flashes while the car runs for those few brief seconds. What could it be? We tried resetting the battery. I'm 90% sure it's getting fuel, it's getting air from what I see and I haven't noticed any vacuum leaks.

Id check IAC first and see if that helps.
Sounds fuel related otherwise.try spraying some starting fuild in TB and see if it stays running longer.

Good luck

Scanned the codes with my SCT and got P1260. Theft detected, vehicle immobilized.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, his chip in the key could have gone bad, or was he trying to start it with a spare? If that chip in the key is not detected it will not stay running.

Its nothing mechanical though so no worries there. Since you mentioned the theft light flashing it has to just be the key.

I feel stupid for not seeing this last night, but it was dark.

The battery (or at least what it looks like) is missing from the bottom of they key and it's just an open hole. lol

That is the transponder module, it is actually powered by the radio waves received from the PATS transceiver...
