Default Budget Turbocharger

My 4.6 V8 needs to be rebuilt and I would like to have a turbocharger installed as part of the rebuild. I would like to spend between $2500 and $3000. Can someone please explain to me the parts I need to have this project assembled? I want to avoid being taken by a shop buying lots of expensive and unnecessary parts.

Its going to be hard for you to do a turbo at that price range. On3performance builds budget kits that people seem to be javing alot of success with, but even with their price, by the time you get your fuel system upgraded your gonna be over your budget.

I would like to make 400 horsepower. Would the money be better spent on heads and cams?

go with a vortech centrifugal supercharger set up.

you can fit that into your budget for sure including the tune and everything

If $2500-$3000 is your absolute budget, then you're best off buying a supercharger like mentioned above.

You're not gonna get 400hp out of heads and cams. Either a blower or turbo you'll be able to make 400hp pretty easy. The turbo usually gives you alot more torque and it will give you more room to grow. Alot of people have followed the $1500 supercharger thread on here. I don't believe anyone's managed to do it for $1500, but they've spent alot less than you would for a kit. The fact is if you wait it out and look around you can get a good deal on a head unit, intercoolers can be had for cheap and then you just need your piping, bypass valve, MAF, and fuel upgrades. This will still put you close to if not over your goal, a turbo is definitely putting you over your goal, especially because I forgot to mention earlier that you need a tubular k-member to run almost any kit out there.

Used supercharger is your only hope. Im installing one as we speak. But with switching to intercooler and blowthrough maf. Im into my kit 3100 before tune.

Lot of things you need to figure out....
