This too! I only know of one other mustang personally who has a Detroit and its had no problems with drag strip abuse.

FYI the cheapest place to get the carbon fiber 31 diff is buyfordracing.com, just bought my setup. The CF diff, 31 mosters, and 4.10s. For the most part a 9inch and a 8.8 will take the same abuse in your setup so it would not be cost efficent do install a 9inch, with factory location 4 link you will also have better suspension geometry using the 8.8.

I basically have it down between the Detroit Locker and Detroit Truetrac....
seems as though the locker is great for straight line, but just noisy and rough around turns
seems as though truetrac is best of both worlds

You definitely want the Detroit locker unit. Carbon clutches will burn out.

thats one of the cons to the truetrac...
I'm definitely leaning more towards the locker....only drawback is the $$$$

yea the locker is goign to whine more around corners also dont forget that if you are going to run that car at a nhra ruled track u have to have open ended lug nuts for the rear which means a set of 3 in studs is a must

only read the first few posts but here's my suggestion:

moser 31 spline axles, moroso 3 1/2 studs, 03 cobra diff. you can leave the stock ring and pinion gears, or keep your 4:10s....either way they shouldn't break @ 600hp.

get your torque boxes welded. i wouldn't even bother trying to weld the axle tubes. they're cast iron and the welder needs a high nickle rod + experience or you're wasting your time.
