Default Flowmaster DRONE question???

I have 2001 GT convertible and am looking for an inexpensive upgrade on my exhaust sound. I have listened to many different magnaflow, borla, slp, and bassani catback systems...and I'm sure for what you pay it's well worth it.

However for the money flowmaster super 44's, to me, put out a nice deep aggressive sound that seemed every bit as nice as the Bassani system (which was my favorite but was $700+ for the catback setup)

What I'm worried about is this infamous DRONE I keep reading about! I called flowmaster and they said in the convertible it won't be quite as bad. He also said the stock catylytic converters will help reduce it as well. Then I called the muffler shop and they said for $75 installed they can put on a basic H-Pipe that they said eliminates the drone.

I was going to simply leave everything stock and have them cut out my stock mufflers and replace them with some mean Super 44's at only $70 each/ $50ea installation. So for around $250 installed I could greatly change my cars stock sound.

Flowmaster also suggested the 40 Deltaflow series because of the reduced drone. What do you all think?

If there's another option for less thatn $300 installed I'd like to hear it! but mostly I want to know if you think with my mostly stock setup and convertible top if I'll have to worry about the drone with the 44's????

You can get the SSS cat back for 350. And that is stainless. Best bang for the buck imo.

I have the SSS exhaust, and you can buy the mufflers for around $60 a piece IIRC, and the entire cat back for $350. It's all 304 mirror polishes stainless steel too. Since they're a straight through style muffler the drone issue shouldn't be a problem. Sound will be more aggressive than the flows as well.

I found this system at partscheap.com

http://www.partscheap.com/SearchResu...ch=sss+exhaust

Is that the same one? And this is a noob question I know, but if I buy the system in the link I provided...do I still need mufflers or does the catback do that?

Ok disregard the axleback system I found at parts cheap. I see the axleback is for the 05-09 mustang.

I guess what I need is this:

Now to find the best price.
