Hi everyone,
I purchased a used 2002 Gt about a year ago and since then I all I have done performance wise is to install a Borla stinger exhaust. The car is an automatic. What upgrades would you reccomend for a student on a tight budget. (wont be in the market for a supercharger for a few years haha)
Thanks for any responses
gears are the most significant performance mod that you will notice in your auto. Id do that since your not gonna be having a full bolt on stang for awhile since your tight on money. get 4.10's dont be scared cost you about 400 bucks total after install.

Thanks for all the responses...
I have about $1000 saved for a rainy day so it looks like gears it is first......If I get a cold air intake what is a good 1 and about how much HP do u gain? Also as I mentioned before I put on the Borla Stinger "Argessive" exhaust system....they claim about 30 Hp, am I actually getting that much?
Thanks again

Start with gears,
www.mustangtuning.com has the best prices (they're on sale right now) I know of for Motive gears and they have free shipping.
http://www.buyfordracing.com/ has the best prices for Ford Racing gears. They have shipping charges but it's still cheaper even after shipping than anywhere else I've seen.

Just a bit of info. Don't pay over $200 for install, just move on to the next place if they quote you 200+. The best price I've found is $165 but that is after some serious asking around.

When you get your gears, also get a hand held tuner. First, it'll change up you shift points so you can get the most out of your car. Second, it'll recalibrate your speedometer for the new gear.
www.brenspeed.com has them for $379.99 (the X-Cal 2)
www.mustangtuning.com has a cheap X-Cal 1 for $299 which is pretty much all you'll need. It just doesn't have a display on it so you have to hook it up to your pc to change things and then go back to your car to flash it.

I've never driven an auto mustang with a torque converter, but that might be the next place to go.

If not, then I would suggest some normal bolt-ons such as exhaust (which will also improve sound), a CAI, underdrive pulleys (which you can sell when you get your supercharger so don't lose the originals), or a TB/Plenum. Headers are a good choice for power but they tend to be a little on the expensive side and have an even higher cost to put in due to the fact that it is not a very fun install.

Good luck.

first get a hand held tuner(more hp and firm up your shifts), then get 4.10's(you will need the tuner to program your speedo), then intake/ exhaust, then 2700 stall converter, then you will be good to go. What times do you think he would run with the mods?
