Question Question about hooking up a killswitch to your IAC....

I picked up the do it yourself kill switch install and the poorly printed instructions aren't super clear so I googled it and found something saying killing your IAC wouldn't disable the car? The instructions say to find your IAC and cut the white with blue stripe wire a few inches from the connector and attach the 2 killswitch wires one to each of the wire you cut? I got a little lost on that statement was hoping someone could help clear this up for me I'm kinda stuck and certainly not new to cars but its got me! Thanks for any help!

Whats the reason behind wanting to kill it tho? The way u state, it sounds like they want you to connect each end off of the toggle switch to opposite wires off the iac that way when the switch is on the iac will be and when the switch is off the iac will be off....?

Disabling the IAC will give you problems, such as the engine dying at idle. What's going on that has led you to wanting to do this?

You'll get a check engine light too. If you adjust your tb properly it would still idle

Well its a killswitch from killswitchcentral and thats the directions they give. Reason being I love my frickin car and I am way way way too over safe about things so I came across this site and ordered one and they say to kill the iac and I thought it was stupid too but it comes with like 10 feet of wire with 2 ends into a switch.

It's a "kill switch" as in a manner to disable the car to prevent theft (click here), not as in "STOP the friggin' engine NOW" as in a race car or on a bike.

As such, opening the IAC circuit will prevent the car from being driven off--however so will PATS so I really don't see the need...

Yup thats the one, Could I do this with the wires and switch I have? I have messed around a lot on that car and did a lot of work on it but never electrical is there a write up somewhere for coils or fuel relay kill? Thanks, that site sucks if they send people directions for your IAC, I knew it sounded fishy and kinda dumb that is why I had to ask the pros!
