Rust...
 

So there is a very small patch of rust above my drivers side rear wheel well, and i was wondering how i could go about fixing it with minimal cost, i was considering just get touch up paint and touching it up every so often..but that wont fix the problem.. heres the spot close up:

To fix it you need to
Get rid of the rust not just paint it. It would have to be sanded down and use a rust treatment on it then repaint it

Upon sanding it down (don't use anything less that 2000 grit). Take a clean rag and rud automotive lacker thinner over it (this is critical because it ensures that your paint will bond/stick tight to the metal again). Then just use touch up paint to finish it off. Since it very small primer will be un-needed.

That look to me like it is rusting from the inside of the fender, and the paint has bubbled-up. If this is so then there will be a hole in the fender after you attempt to sane it (you could probably poke your finger through it now).

The only way to fix that is to remove all the rusted metal and patch the hole--the best method for doing that will depend on how much metal has to be removed.

One other comment, based on the 45 years I lived in New England, once rust like that pokes it's ugly head out there is very likely a bunch more that will be showing up over the next few years. 'Twas me I'd get it fixed at Carsmetics or some similar place and then sell the car while it still looks good--just my 2¢ worth...

The thing is the rust has been there for quite awhile, its not getting any worst, its just doing its thing haha..i just need to get it repaired
