fuel pump doesn't work

so my fuel pump went, i put a 99 cobra pump in, but now as soon as i turn the ignition on the fuel pump fuse burns. I disconnected the power to fuel pump, turned the ignition on and blew another fuse. I've googled and researched it for hours and hours but can't find anything. My last guess is CCRM, i'm looking for a fuel pump relay for the CCRM, please lead me the right way.
if anyone has a clew of what's wrong i'll greatly appreciate it

I believe youre on track with a CCRM issue.
I think the CCRM is differant to drive FP than stock GT CCRM.
Did you go with the 2 (duel) pump setup from the 03-04 Cobra ?

No just a 190LPH out of a 99 cobra, still better than the stock 88LPH

Sounds like a short to ground on the fuel pump harness. What is the fuse # ? (not amp but # of the slot in the junction box)

Get to tracing, have fun!

it's one of the big fuses 3rd from the right 20A fuse. how do i trace it from the fuse box?

Use the diagram i just posted? Thats the only way

Correct me if I'm wrong, but dont the return style and returnless style fuel system use different pumps that aren't interchangeable? I only ask because I couldnt run a SVT focus pump in my car but 98 and up could. Your 97 is a return style system that ran up to 97. Years 98-04 switched to the returnless.

I believe they are all the same. The pump is controlled by a FPDM on the newer cars, which will vary voltage to supply the needed psi of fuel. Same pump however. According to his post he unhooked the fuel pump and it still is blowing fuses which leads me to believe a short is somewhere in the harness

from what i heard you can run a returnless pump on return system but not vise versa.
I, don't understand how everything happened at a time, my pump broke and i got a short. the car never sat for longer than couple of days. This time i took it out on a lunch break and it died on me on the way back. If it's not CCRM fuel relay then i'm giving up and bypassing the pump to a separate switch. a new relay is on it's way looks like i'm gonna have to cut the center terminal off though
this is the relay i got http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...i_sku=18052592
but the one in right now doesn't have the center terminal, I hope it'll still work

i'm not an electrician and understand very little in diagrams but looks like i'm on the right way, thanks

Dont need to be an electrician to understand wiring diagrams. For some reason its not showin in my older post so I'll post it again. Just follow the trail man. Could be a relay, CCRM, shorted wire, its not going to fix itself
