Default AC firewall tube. where plug in? 97 gt

I have a 1997 ford mustang GT. There is a tube coming out of my passenger side firewall in the engine compartment. there is a yellowish tube conector on the end of it for 1/4 inch or so. I can't find anywhere it plugs into.

Under the air intake filter. there is a salid black tube that is hard. not a soft one. With the car running it feels like it is trying to suck. like a vacuum.

My defrost is only working. the vents are not. and the ac isn't blowing any cold air. please help.

i've searched every google typing i can. and it looks like every other mustang plugs in a different spot than mine.

*This is just speculation* I have no idea if I'm right or not, but it sounds like this could provide the vacuum for the **** that runs the vent control. Hopefully someone will chime in and confirm or deny this.

this one is the one sucking air. it's right under the air filter. The white part at the end is a connector i put on it.

If it were MY car I would try getting a similar type of hard hose like that from napa or one of those types and connect the two....if it were MY car that is. To me they look like they should connect, though it doesn't make much why ford wouldn't just put in long hose to connect them from the start.

I had to deal with a scenario like this in a Dodge Ram 3500 I was driving for a while. Similar symptoms, AC only came out of the defroster and cruise control would not work right. oddly enough that ran off vacuum in that truck. anyway, replaced the broken hose and it worked like a charm.
