so if you have a black car then you probably would just be better off getting a C/f hood.

That's what I'm considering. Not only is paint expensive, but then you have to worry about wear, etc... If the c/f eventually wears or whatever, you can have it clear coated or painted.

Code3GT: Do you have a picture of the Mrs.' stang when the hood wasn't painted?

just get a grinder and slowly gring away the bottuum of the hood till you get it to fit. talk to code3gt i think he has like a 4" or 3 1/2" JLT intake and his BARELY clears the hood. so you should be fine.
Yea, that is an option for sure. I guess I am just going to have to get everything installed before I 'will' know if I'll need a hood, or ot modify anything. I have checked on some prices for some hoods & paint. I have a friend whose friends does work at a shop & would paint mine for about $100, so add that to the $300approx for a hood & I'm about $400 over what I want to spend, but may have to if I don't grind away the underneath. Does anybody have pics of this? Code, do you have pics?

Hoods vary greatly depending on material, style, mounting points, level of prep. needed, etc.

Carbon fibe rhoods run about $600, but don't need to be painted on a black car.

Most hoods run between $300-$500 + $150 for frieght shipping + 200 for paint.

WHy you would want to lower your exhaust/oil pan anymore is beyond me... Are you lowered?
I'm not interested in a c.f. hood. I'll end up w/a Cobra R hood if I have to buy one.

I have a 1.5in drop. I was wondering about lowering the mounts, because if it is cheaper than replacing the hood that was the route I would go.

Hey...isn't my hood made of fiber glass anyway?! How the #%&@ could heat from the intake cause the fiber glass to warp?! My only problem should be whether or not the intake fits due to the motor mounts. I don't believe I should have any problems with warping under my hood.

Thats why you have a heat shield on the underside of your hood (that black cover thingy with the pony imprint) as long as you dont remove that i dont see u having probs with warping.
