Default H-Pipe install

I just got my MAC offroad H today.. and would appreciate any helpful comments or suggestions about installing it. There are no instructions included (is this normal ?).. just the pipes, 8 bolts and 8 lugs, 1 gasket, and 1 piece of steel pipe about 2" long with a flange. Where does the gasket and flanged pipe piece go ?

Any other advice greatly appreciated.

i just installed mine and i had to get a shop to bust loose and tighten one of my bolt.....but otherwise everything was pretty straight forward...you can tell where everything goes once you get your h pipe off

keep all your o2 sensors in the same positions and probably the most beneficial info to give you is to do eich of the 3 pieces individually...and keep everything loose....you are going to want to be able to adjust how the bends are once you are done mounting everything...slowly tigheten each bolt a couple turns here a couple turns there.....dont tighten each bolt all the way down........nice and easy bit by bit.....that way everything will go together and you wont have any fitment issues or sealing issues....

good luck

it took me almost 5 hrs my first time.....and only about 45min the second time.....you learn a lot once you do it

its not that hard you just need a lot of extensions and a swivle socket. sorry for the bad spelling. the nuts were on there good they would not come off i used a lot of WD-40 you also might need a breaker bar, im sure that will help alot. make sure the sockets are on there good also.

yes it's normal to not get instructions with this stuff, but once you get your stock pipe off, it will be pretty obvious where everything goes.

To answer your question....The passenger side is the side with the flange and gasket. There is not one on the drivers side. Attach the driver's side to the manifold first because it allows for more movement of the pipe and will make your install that much easier.

Bump to my fellow Jar-Head Diver’s post (MustangWorld has a lot of good shat!) and I can totally relate to skunkanova’s post (I had to drive mine to the local TiresPlus to have my manifold bolts heated and broken loose with impact wrench prior to my SLP X-Pipe install). Other than that, once the stock bish is off, it should be pretty apparent where everything goes.

Good luck!

FYI, use the factory metal gasket not the paper one. The paper one will blow out after a while. It happened to me. Your stock H will have it stuck to the pass side header. The cone flange will go on the driver side header.

Alright guys thanks for all of the help. I just finished the install.. with my buddy's help (he has an impact gun) we did the whole thing start to finish in under 2 hours, first time for both of us, got everything to fit TIGHT..

I wish I had seen about reusing the stock gasket, because we did install the paper one.. oh well.

One question though.. the old midpipe I took out only has 4 cats ??? I was always under the impression that the stock pipe has 6 cats ?? So did I just remove an aftermarket midpipe ??

Nice work, Dave - and congrats on the successful install! You'll have to post up a sound clip now.
