Front end noise, struts bad???
I completely replaced the front end brakes at 45K miles, after 6 months of continual front-end groan/hum.
In Jan '05, the wife took the '02 GT to Indiana, in all the wet/salty roads. I thought the bearings wer dry, but found out they are sealed hubs.
I pulled and checked front brakes last month, and found left rotor grooves. I did a complete front brake job, with new oem rotors, ceramic pads, hardware kit, anti-squel on back of pads, and lube on pins and clips.
There is still a groan/hum heard from 15 mph to 40 mph. After 40 mph, cannot be heard over road noise. It can be herd and felt when braking, down to a complete stop. I was tired of it, so I took it to the Dealer down the street. They said hubs were bad. They replaced both month old hubs, with Ford hubs. Needless to say, $54.95 later (warranty) it still makes the same noise. I had the tires replaced last October, so I don't think it is the tires, especially since it is felt in the brake pedal at stop.
Could it be the struts? I had a similar problem with an '85 Firebird. A complete brfake job did not fix the feel/noise, until front struts were replaced. Any help would be thankful.
