Default stage 1 cams help

so my next mod is going to be stage 1 cams i decided. my cousin that went to school for motor work is going to give me a hand with the install. my question is the stage 1 setup going to be ok with a bama sct tuner or should i get it done by a shop or am i going to be safe without one? if i do need one does anyone have any recommendations on who to go to in mass and how much a rough estimate would cost to get it tuned properly. finally should i get new springs or will my 40k mile ones be fine?

It really depends on the specs, but stock springs should be fine with most stage 1 type cams. My MHS stage 2's were designed for the stock springs, and i put them in with 50,000 miles. They've been running great ever since.

As far as a tune goes all that was needed for mine was idle adjustmant. Of course a good dyno tune is best, but it's not necessary.
