Yea I was thinking about doing this. How much louder did it get by removing two of the cats?

Also to the guy above, I already have 4.10s, SCT programmer on the way as well as an american thunder cat back. So an aftermarket catted H pipe and the factory one dont have much of a difference in terms of sound. I would think going from 4 restrictive cats to 2 high flow cats would change it quite a bit.

After thinking about it I may just go with an O/R one and switch back to stock for inspection time. Is there a way to keep the SES light from going on with an O/R pipe??

I'm not cetain about that, which is why I asked anyone with specific experience to chime in.

However, I DO have a catted H-pipe for my long tube headers (it has only 2 high flow cats). When I take off my O/R H-pipe and install the catted one for inspection purposes, the car sounds nearly silent by comparison. I am guessing that any cats in the system will significantly dampen the sound. I think that 2 cats will dampen the sound only a little more than a 4 cat set-up. I am certain from my experience that the 4 cats are not twice as sound damping as just 2 cats are.

BTW, you will LOVE the 4.10 gear when you get them installed!!!

I know I cant wait to get the 4.10s put in. It doesnt seem like there is much out there for H pipes with the factory exhaust manifold or headers. It seems like everything is for longtubes. What is my best option for an O/R H

I think you're doing the right thing by going H pipe.. I went X pipe on the car I had and it was just to raspy. I wanted to put the factory mid pipe back on.. Id get a H Pipe with no cats.. else like stated before you aren't going to notice enough difference for the price you will be paying. Plus it's cheaper.. thats an added bonus..

Yes I def dont like the X pipe sound. So can someone chime in and tell me my options for O/R H pipe on stock headers. When I search the H pipe selection seems scarce compared to X, and the H pipes that I do find seem like they are all for use with LT headers.
