What H pipe to get with stock header
 

I just bought a 2003 Mustang GT. Pretty much stock including exhaust. Ive been listening to different clips and Im pretty much sold on a catted H pipe with flowmaster american thunder catback. I cant really find any catted H pipe to work with the stock headers, someone help me out and let me know my options. I really dont want an O/R pipe too loud plus strict emission testing here. I also would prefer an H pipe to an X. Thanks for the help.

You could buy an o/r h pipe and weld in cats. Might even be cheaper than buying a catted mid-pipe

If you can swing it go with the MRT H pipe. I love mine. Fit is great and it sounds awesome. I have the catted, but you can get them without cats.

That is very expensive for what would be only a very small change in sound from the stock set-up. I would not spend the money on this with your mods.

Invest in a cat-back first to get a different tone to your exhaust and skip the MRT catted mid-pipe for now. That $500 would be MUCH better applied to a gear upgrade.

If you plan to keep cats on the car for emissions purposes, I would simply invest in a more aggressive cat-back, like a Borla Stinger, Magnaflow Magnapack, or even Flowmaster 40series set-up.

I have a 02 Gt with the Stock Headers, MAC Catted H-pipe, American Thunder Catback. Sounds great. Has a Deep/loud tone to it..

I'd be interested to hear a set-up with factory manifolds and the American Thunder cat-back with both the factory catted mid-pipe and an aftermarket catted mid-pipe.

I would think the difference would be relatively small. Factory mid-pipe being only slightly quieter than the aftermarket.

Can anyone speak to the difference in sound between the two?

OP goes with your catback of choice first. Then if you want is louder go with MRT catted H pipe. With my catback it was a big difference in sound but STEEDA catback is very quiet.

If you go aggressive catback you can keep your stock mid pipe.
