Forged Internals Question

Forged Internals Question
I've got a '98 Cobra, and was wanting to swap in a forged rotating assembly (pistons, rods, crank). Not counting the cost of the parts, can anyone give me an idea of how much money a good shop would charge to do this kind of work? Thanks.

holy **** you got a fast car! what are your times. you dont need a new crank you have a forged crank already. you can get forged rods and pistons on ebay for like $900 and you can install them yourself with a buddy in about a weekend. or shops ussually charged $100-125 an hour for that kind of work

RE: Forged Internals Question
Yeah, I know I have a forged crank, but SHM motorsports makes a stroker kit with forged rods an pistons. So I have to replace the crank, 'cause, well, it's a stroker kit.
My times? Well, to be honest, the best run I have had so far was only a 12.59 ET. I am only running six pounds of boost though, and I'm not a particularly good drag racer

RE: Forged Internals Question
Well, I guess it's all relative, you know? I mean, yeah, there aren't too many street cars that can run that, but hell, a new corvette will run that from the factory. With no supercharger.
So, anyway, I was wanting to raise the boost, and before I go and do that, I was wanting to strengthen my internals. I mean, what good is an 11-second car with a shattered piston?

RE: Forged Internals Question
You will need to get it balanced and that is about $150 at most machine shops. If you use the stock block you will need to bore it out and get new sleeves and thay run about $360 if the stroker kit don't come with them. Machine work and assembling the motor and the balancing of the motor. Without parts just the labor is about $1000.

RE: Forged Internals Question
Why would I need to bore it out? The kit I'm looking at is just a stroker. It comes with a forged crank, rods, and pistons, plus bearings, rings, and associated components. The pistons are the stock size, though. Will the new rings not seal up to the cylinder walls? Thanks.

'Stroker' kits require boring, aka a larger cylinder.
Every bit of displacement helps.
