PATS randomly died today

So I drove to work today, and at lunch went out to grab something and decided to crack my windows, put the key in and rolled the windows down and realized my theft was flashing like crazy. So i turned it off, pulled the key out, put it back in and tired to start. No start and theft light kept flashing. Called ford and they said oh, just bring it down and we can diagnose it. As much as i didn't want to i had to trailer it down and there supposed to get to it in the morning. Has anyone heard of it just dieing? I know people with tuners and stuff can mess with it. But my car is still bone stock.

mine did the same thing. thought i damaged the key somehow, got new key and worked fine, tried the old key for fun, and it worked too. maybe PATS getting confused in old age?

My key is worn out, so I wouldn't be surprised. I do need to replace the tumbler and get a new key cut.

Ok so new key and tumbler and pats is "fixed" and the car starts but dies. Give it a little gas and itll stay running but run like crap. Got told the memory in the pcm is bad. So $500 for a new computer and $160 to install and re flash. Sounds like a load of bull. But tomorrow morning I'm going to go talk to the tech and look at the car.
