Default 02 GT or 03 Cobra?

I know this may seem like a silly question but I'm torn at this point. Background for the question... I have an Sonic Blue 02 GT convertible that only has a catback exhaust, cold air intake and stedda springs. This car has now become my wifes car as I bought a 10GT that I just supercharged which is pulling 450hp. Now the 02 is not as fun to drive anymore for me but more importantly my wife gets iritated that she can't keep up when we go cruising so she asked if we could get a 03/04 cobra and do the basic mods to it. Where I'm torn is the 02 is paid off and a cobra looks to be about $10K more than what our GT is worth (only 50K miles on it). For $10K I can do a lot to the GT so is it worth selling the GT and getting a cobra or would it be just as cost effective to build up the GT?

I think it would be worth selling to get a Cobra. Seems like more potential and it's a Cobra.

Because your car is paid off. I think it would be more cost effective to supercharge the GT. although it is very hard to argue with the ability of a terminator. and the Cobra will ride better than the GT

Well if you're only looking to keep up with the supercharged 10 gt, then all you would really need to do is throw a blower on the 02 gt, and you'd be all set.

For $6k you can have a KB supercharger installed and probably get about 385hp and I think for $7k yu can get a intercooled KB and then you can probably push over 400hp. For another $1500 you can buy the forged rotating assembly from MMR and have that installed and then you would probably be able to push the KB SC to 500hp. All that will cost you about $10k but that would be one fast mustang. I have an 03 GT with 90k miles and I'm contemplating the same thing, however I think I'm gonna go the cheaper route with a non cooled vortech which would be about $4k installed. If you have the $, buy a Cobra, if you love the GT, keep it and forged the motor and install KB. At least will suprise many with your GT. Most people know what the Cobras can do. That's one reason I wanted to keep my GT and install SC, so I can have a nice sleeper. I was gonna even keep exhaust stock but I'm not sure if that will affect performance!

Just buy some 4V heads and add a KB and bam, you have a cobra.

Also insert the cost of insurance. For the 10k it would take to buy the cobra, the GT could be as fast as the 10, a stock cobra will not keep up with the 10 if it's making 460. You would be looking at about another 2-3g in mods on the cobra and you'd be around 430-440hp.

I'd just keep the GT, and supercharge it. You'd be paying 10K more for the Cobra, which are just 10K more in car payments...and you'd still have to mod the Cobra a bit too.

If you have a car that's paid off already, just drop like 5K for a supercharger and you should be good to go. Financially, it doesn't make much sense. Having a paid off car=a blessing. That's why I'm so lazy to buy something else right now. Car payments suck.

Cobra! It's that simple! I love the 03-04 Cobras! Wish I had the bankroll to buy one, that's for sure.
