I am currently running a Spectre HPR filter, but only because my brother gave it to me for Christmas; it's a oiled gauze filter like the K&N, but actually seems of higher quality which drew my brother to them. Prior to that I ran STP's paper filter, which is what I was running on the last 262/305 dyno run--as with K&N filters the only thing that has increased is intake noise.

Please take no offense, however this comes very close to being a stupid question. That is the combination I am running on my car, therefore it should be obvious that it is something I would recommend. Were it not it would have been replaced with something "better" or removed.

As to the spacer, I would not/do not use one--once again, if it had something to offer I likely would be as they are cheap enough.
